Sunrise to Sunset

Sunrise to Sunset Castle Rock began as a 24-hour race back in the day. Since then, the decision was made that 12 hours is plenty! STS is designed to offer recreational and competitive cyclists the opportunity to compete in a fun and rewarding 12 hour endurance race on a moderately technical off-road course. Register as an individual or form a team that loves to shred for a memorable day of racing, camaraderie and laughs.

Taking place on the flowy trails at Philip S. Miller Park in Castle Rock, this amazing $30M facility offers the perfect endurance mountain bike venue. The playful 6.5-mile course is cut into to the hills and drainages surrounding the park and offers ample viewing from the staging area for team members and spectators.

The course is designed to be fun and approachable. If you aren’t a highly technical mountain biker, don’t worry! The level of challenge is really determined by how fast you go. Bring your friends, teams and BBQ and spend the day with bikes, food, beer and comradery.

General Details

Along with a great supported course for 12 hours, your entry fee also earns you custom swag (STS socks, Specialized water bottle, and other swag from our sponsors).

  • In the case of catastrophic failure due to weather or other extenuating circumstances that prevents the ongoing scoring of the event or creates a racing environment that is deemed too dangerous for the participants, the race may be called as of a certain time.  Final results will be calculated in one of two ways as determined by the Race Director. (A) The race will be considered over at the point it was called and the results will be taken from the last completed lap. (B) The riders will be allowed to finish their current lap after the point the race is called and those results will be taken as final. In the case that the race is stopped and restarted, the combined results of both parts of the race will be used.
  • Additional rules or changes may be added as questions arise, so please continue to check this site for updates. Captains will receive a set of rules at check-in.

Cancellation Policy

Rattler Racing does not offer refunds for Sunrise to Sunset. We completely understand that unfortunate circumstances happen, but we plan this event way in advance from a cost and resource allocation perspective, and the financial and administrative burden is high. On the plus side, we do offer transfers and deferrals. If you would like to transfer your entry to another rider, no problem. Just drop us a line and we can get it taken care of for you at no charge. The same goes for deferrals. We realize schedules change, life events happen, and injuries can surprise us. We will happily defer your entry fee to next year. Again, no charge, but you must let us know prior to race day.

Rattler Racing has a great interest in supporting non-profits in their pursuit of a worthy cause. Not only is ALIGHT doing great things in shining a spotlight on human trafficking, they are also very involved in our community and have built up a volunteer network to help us produce Sunrise to Sunset. We are incredibly happy to have them join us and be a beneficiary of the event.

If you are a student or a parent/guardian of a youth rider and thinking about racing one of our events, WE WANT YOU THERE!  We don’t want you worrying about the cost of registration, so we developed our scholarship program to give athletes of all ages and abilities an opportunity to race.
